Sailing test event of the 7th CISM mILITARY World Games (7th CWG) and 2019 National Youth Sailing Championship opened on the morning of April 27. 109 athletes of 20 sailing teams from all over the country participated in this event. This was the first time in the history of Hubei Province to host a national professional sailing event.

A total of 87 boats participated in this event. There were 6 levels: Men’s 470 Class, Women’s 470 Class, Men’s Laser Standard, Women’s Laser Radial, Men’s Laser Radial and Women’s Laser 4.7, among which Men’s and Women’s 470 Class are the competition level of the 7th CWG. Competition included course race and long-distance race.

“One lake and two venues” were the fields for this event - “one lake” means Guozhenghu area of East Lake; and “two venues” means East Lake South Road Sailing Venue and East Lake Mid-Lake Pavilion Park Sailing Venue. These two complementary venues work closely to better meet the needs of organization for the 7th CWG sailing race.

It’s learnt that both opening ceremony and award ceremony of this test event were held in East Lake Sailing Base. Athletes of Men’s and Women’s 470 Class launched to a boat from Wuhan East Lake Scenic Area Sailing Park, while others went afloat from Hubei East Lake Sailing Base.

The whole event lasts from April 27 to May 3. Therefore, people in Wuhan can feast their eyes on sailing event and beautiful scenery while they wander in East Lake Greenway during the May Day vacation.
