Last weekend, Wuhan National Fitness Center was heatedly talked about by Wuhan sports enthusiasts. Here, nearly a thousand citizens enjoyed the women’s singles final of the 2019 International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tournament in Wuhan, more than 1,500 citizens participated in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Wuhan Grassroots Football Carnival, and there were many basketball, badminton, table tennis enthusiasts enjoying their time.

International games can be held in national fitness venues

The Wuhan National Fitness Center in Houhu Avenue, Hankou was built in 2007. In that year, it served as the venue for the hockey, softball, archery and flying saucers game in the 6th National City Sports Games. This year’s ITF World Tennis Tournament Wuhan Stadium is the 8 outdoor tennis courts of the Wuhan National Fitness Center.

The ITF World Tennis Tournament in Wuhan lasted from April 29 to May 19, with more than 200 professional tennis players from nearly 20 countries and regions joining the competition.

QUAN Zhanchang, a coach from the tennis court of Wuhan National Fitness Center told the Changjiang Daily reporter, “Our tennis court has hosted international games for several years, but it is still open to the public at ordinary times. Tennis lovers can play tennis in these venues for international games. Every summer, we also send professional coaches to train young people to play tennis for free.”

Welcome citizens to play basketball, table tennis and badminton here

At 13:00 on May 19, the reporter of Changjiang Daily saw at Wuhan National Fitness Center that although the ITF World Tennis Tournament in Wuhan has ended, people keep coming to the park, and pouring into the Grassroots Football Carnival and the venues for other group activities, making the National Fitness Center as lively as on festival.

In the basketball playground, many citizens, especially young people, are playing basketball. There is a notice on the entrance of the basketball court: “Monday to Friday, free of charge from 6:30 to 14:00, 5 yuan/person from 14:00 to 17:00, 10 yuan/person from 17:00 to 21:10; Saturday and Sunday, free of charge from 6:30 to 9:00 and from 12:00 to 14:00, 5 yuan/person from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00, 10 yuan/person from 17:00 to 21:10.”

Relevant person from Wuhan National Fitness Center introduced that there are sports and fitness venues and facilities for badminton, tennis, basketball, table tennis, swimming, football, etc. Among them, venues for badminton and table tennis are open to the public for free from 7:30 am to 9:00 am from Monday to Friday. 【By WU JIE】
