According to Senior Colonel GUO Jianzhong, the professional sports teams of the Chinese army have made glorious achievements in the past 70 years or so and their "August 1 Spirits" have become a national pride and a global admiration. Among the six sessions of CISM Military World Games that China attended, the Chinese army ranked the 2nd in gold medal counts for 4 sessions and the 3rd in gold metal counts for 2 sessions.

In the new era, the professional sports resources of the PLA have been integrated and the Military Sports Training Center of the CMC Training and Administration Department has been founded in the new round of military reforms.
