On the morning of August 3, the Swimming Test Event for the 7th CISM Military World Games & 2019 Wuhan Youth Swimming Competition were inaugurated in Wuhan Sports Center Natatorium.

There were 305 youth athletes of 11 representative teams and 53 referees participating in the 2-day event. The event included 8 categories for men and women, as well as the men’s and women’s professional groups. There were 7 sports programs, i.e., Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke, Butterfly, Individual Medley, Freestyle Relay and Mixed Relay.

In this event, ZHANG Ziyang, an 18-year-old boy from Wuhan, who had got many national swimming awards, won the championship in the Men’s Professional 1,500m Freestyle held on the afternoon of August 3 with the mark of 15’33’’. He has been trained for swimming since he was a little boy and now he is one of the athletes in Hubei Administration of Sports. He once won the champion of the 1,500m Freestyle in 2017 National Spring Swimming Championships, the champion of 5km Men’s Individual in 2018 National Marathon Swimming Series, the second place of Men’s 800m Freestyle in 2018 National Swimming Championships and the champion of the Men’s 10km Professional Competitive Swimming of Wuhan Marathon Swimming in 2019 National Marathon Swimming Series.

In order to ensure the smooth running of the Swimming Test Event, the core posts of duty are composed of the excellent staff members from the Administrative Committee of Wuhan Development Zone and the departments of the Government of Hannan District, and 164 young volunteers from Wuhan University of Science and Technology provide services during the whole process. The test event is carefully planned and implemented in order with the principle of "high-standard organization, all-around testing". The preparations are made in full sail and the overall running effect is to be jointly evaluated by all the departments of Executive Commission, to check and improve the level of the games and ensure the success of the swimming competition of the 7th CISM Military World Games in October this year.

Wuhan Sports Center Natatorium covers an area of 14,764m2, and its floor area is 33,547m2. The overall shape of the Natatorium is elliptic with a long axis of 151.20m and a short axis of 92.40m. It mainly contains a comprehensive indoor swimming and diving hall with 3,500 seats and a comprehensive national fitness center.

The water processing system combining the internationally advanced reverse- and full-flow ozone disinfection and long-acting disinfectant is adopted for the swimming pool, and the water quality conforms to the FINA’s regulations about the hygienic standard for swimming pool water. The radiant heating system is adopted for the floor on the shore of the pool, ensuring the comfortableness of the athletes stepping on the ground barefoot during the competition. Given the daily operation and management costs, a large number of new energy-saving and environment-friendly building materials and equipment are selected for the construction, such as the hollow LOW-E glass for the glass curtain wall, three-layer hollow PC solar panels and electric louver skylight for the roof light, which ensures the beauty of buildings and the conformity to the current development trend of energy conservation and environmental protection. This Natatorium can meet the requirements of international and domestic high-level single events, and the needs of water performance, swimming training and daily swimming fitness activities of the public.
