On September 9, after reviewed by 28 experts and supervisors from national artist tank in Wuhan, 301 art works were selected for the 7th CISM Military World Games National Exhibition of Fine Arts (NEFA) and would be displayed in Wuhan Art Museum from October 9 to 27.

The review was jointly organized by China Artists Association, Hubei Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Publicity Department of CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee, Wuhan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Media and Communication Dept. under Wuhan Executive Commission. ZHANG Shihua, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Wuhan Municipal Committee and Director of Publicity Department, expressed his appreciation to the expert panel during the review.
According to the responsible person of Wuhan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, as one of the major events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and welcome the 7th CISM Military World Games (7th CWG), the NEFA is the first comprehensive national exhibition of fine arts held in Wuhan.
301 works including 105 Chinese paintings, 96 oil paintings, 60 woodcut prints and 40 watercolor paintings were selected in the review, from which 60 excellent works were elected and would be collected by Wuhan Art Museum after the exhibition.
According to LI Xiang, Deputy Director of the Exhibition Organizing Committee and Vice Chairman of China Artists Association, the art exhibition attracted wide attention across the national art circle since more than 4,000 works participated in the selection. Many authors are art school students or teachers, or professional painters from academies of painting or military. Most of the works are themed with sports, such as mass sports, military sports, and professional athletes’ sports, with a size of 2 square meters. Most of the works show a group of characters during sports events, such as cycling, horse race, tug of war, dragon boat race and basketball game.
As introduced by the responsible person of the Exhibition Organizing Committee Office, as soon as the solicit contributions set off, Wuhan Federation of Literary and Art Circles held pep rallies ｂａｓｅｄ on different styles of paintings to encourage creation, and organized over one hundred artists to participate in sketching activities carried out in police camp, military ｂａｓｅ, warrant officer school and venues for the 7th CWG. Therefore, Hubei Province topped the list in terms of the number of contributions and witnessed 80 selected works, which accounts for 27% of all selected ones.
It’s said that during the NEFA, a National Famous Artists Invitational Exhibition, as part of the special exhibitions for the 7th CWG, will be held in Hubei Provincial Museum, so as to expand social influence and improve art taste. The 70 specially invited artists (including military artists) are national famous artists nominated by China Artists Association. By then, the major exhibitions with different styles will kick off at the same time along the Yangtze River. (Reporter WAN Jianhui, Correspondents ZHAO Chunqu and WAN Quan, Photographer: LI Wei)
