Central China's first cross-Strait industrial cooperation zone

The first cross-Strait industrial cooperation zone in Central China, and the third nationwide, was inaugurated in Hubei on July 18.

It was announced that 26 projects are to settle in the zone with a total investment of RMB 27 billion.

Prior to that, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council had approved two cross-Strait industrial cooperation zones, one in Guangxi and the other in Sichuan.

The zone in Hubei will adopt the "Three Parks in One Zone" model by integrating the resources of three industrial parks — the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone, the Huangshi Economic Development Zone and the Xiantao High-tech Development Zone.

The East Lake High-tech Zone will focus on biotechnology and intelligent manufacturing. It will join hands with Taiwan to set up a special investment fund to facilitate projects establishing themselves in the park. It will also set up a cross-Strait industrial talent fund. (By Li Jia)
